Please keep in mind that the Brototype is still an alpha build of the game and the beta (available through pre-ordering) is still in development - there may be bugs present.
If you run into any, please let us know!
Broforce is a co-operative patriotism simulation. You play as 80's and 90's action heroes waging war against terror in almost entirely destructible nostalgic settings.
While superficially a run 'n gun in the vein of Metal Slug, Broforce's reactive environment encourages tactical play. Each bro out of the 15 the game currently features (with many more to come) has distinctive attacks and special abilities, and, aside from spraying terrorist blood across the landscape, mastering all these abilities is one of Broforce's core pleasures.
In Broforce death is instant and often surprising, but this is balanced by the incompetence of the enemy. The explosions (which are numerous) often result in unpredictable chain reactions, but this shouldn't discourage you from permanently holding down your trigger finger. Yelling "'Murica!" while you do so is optional.

Competative Game Modes
Broforce will include many competative modes. Below shows a game mode in progress, "Choppa Run". Its a competative mode for 2 to 4 bros. Climb to the top of the level (or race to the far right in other levels), before the explosions turn you into a rain of blood, and get to the choppa first. Ties are settled in brodowns to the death!
New Environments and Moar Bros!
Footage released in April 2013 introducing the Brominator, one of many bros in the Broforce team - with many more to come - testing out his metal in a new City environment. Broforce will span across jungle, city and even outer space in their war on terror.
Broforce is being developed by Free Lives, an indie games studio based in Cape Town, South Africa. Broforce began as a Ludum Dare entry in the Ludum Dare #23 Game Jam in April 2012, where it was awarded First in 'Humour', Second in 'Fun' and Fourth in 'Graphics'. We loved what we'd created and decided to focus our efforts full time into releasing it as a full game. The first Broforce "Brototype" was released in October 2012, and received excellent feedback. Since then the Brototype has been regularly updated and is available to play for free online. While the Brototype shows the kind of combat being developed, it does lack the depth, scale of content and narrative that the final game will include (and a lot else, besides). The beta is available through pre-ordering and updates to the beta can be seen here.
The Brototype is currently available through a web player (requires Unity) and a downloadable standalone compatible with Windows. The full game will be Windows, Mac and Linux compatible. We have been Greenlit on Steam and hope to also bring Broforce to Vita and PS.
